University Web Policy—Consistency is Key
Regardless of the content management system used, websites must conform to University Web Policy as developed and implemented by the Web Council and responsible administrators. The Web Standards generally prescribe basics of best practices upon which all professional web developers agree, and they are designed to insure that the University’s web presence complies with applicable laws and meets the needs of all of its constituencies. Implementation of the Web Standards will be progressive, cooperative, and responsive to the circumstances of different units.
Status of the Web Policy
The current version of the Web Policy was adopted by the Web Council on July 27, 2009. The Policy is a draft document, which will be reviewed by campus stakeholders during the coming months. Until the Policy is thoroughly reviewed, we are using it as a working document to guide decisions on Appalachian's Web presence. Please contact Connie Woolard (woolardcl@appstate.edu) if you have questions or suggestions regarding the Policy. --Anthony G. Carey, Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs
